Introduction
Barry Manilow, the one and only living legend of pop music, is gearing up for what could be his final tour of major arenas this summer. As he prepares to return to Northeast Ohio, Manilow is not only ready to perform for his devoted fans but also to honor a very special local music teacher, celebrating those who inspire the next generation of musicians.
At 81, Manilow shows no signs of slowing down. “I really am just about feelings,” he explains. “If you can’t feel something with my music—or even with me standing there—I’m not doing my job right.” Over a six-decade career as a singer, songwriter, and producer, Manilow has sold over 85 million records worldwide, securing his place among the best-selling artists of all time. Despite his legendary status, he remains grounded, frequently returning to Cleveland to perform, connecting with audiences who have followed his journey for decades.

This summer, Manilow will take the stage at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Thursday, June 5th. During the show, a local music teacher will receive a very special recognition. This initiative is part of the Manilow Music Project, which began 17 years ago when a friend asked him to help secure a saxophone for his daughter’s high school. Since then, Manilow has dedicated himself to celebrating music educators, giving students the chance to vote for their favorite teachers in each city. Winners are invited to the show with family and friends, treated to prime seats, and publicly acknowledged from the stage—a moment that Manilow describes as “so moving. The audience goes wild, cheering for them.”
Since 2008, the Manilow Music Project has donated over $10 million in musical instruments across the United States, ensuring that students in need have access to the tools that can ignite their creativity. For Manilow, this project is more than charity—it’s a way to give back to the people who shaped his own musical journey and to honor those shaping the future of music.
Following this tour, Manilow plans to release a brand-new album featuring original pop songs written and compiled over his decades-long career. This will be his latest contribution to a body of work that continues to inspire millions around the world.

Voting for the local music teacher recognition is currently open and will conclude in April. Fans and students can participate by visiting manilowmusicproject.org, making it a community-driven celebration of education, passion, and the transformative power of music.
Even after more than 50 years in the spotlight, Manilow’s energy and commitment remain remarkable. With every performance, he reminds audiences why he is not just a pop star, but a living legend whose music—and generosity—continue to touch lives.
