Barry Manilow Announces Lung Cancer Diagnosis, Reschedules 2026 Tour Dates
Music legend Barry Manilow has revealed that he is temporarily stepping away from his farewell tour to undergo surgery following a lung cancer diagnosis.
In a heartfelt statement shared across his social media platforms, the 82-year-old “Copacabana” singer emphasized that the cancer was caught in its early stages, a discovery he attributes to both a diligent doctor and sheer luck.
The Diagnosis: A Lucky Discovery
The news comes after Manilow suffered a recurring bout of bronchitis. Despite recovering and returning to his residency at the Westgate Las Vegas, his physician ordered an MRI as a precaution.
“The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed,” Manilow wrote. “It’s pure luck (and a great doctor) that [it] was found so early. That’s the good news.”

Manilow shared an optimistic outlook regarding his upcoming medical procedure:
-
Surgery: Scheduled for late December/early January.
-
Prognosis: Doctors do not believe the cancer has spread.
-
Post-Op Care: He confirmed that no chemotherapy or radiation is required.
-
Recovery: He joked that his recovery plan consists of “chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns.”
Impact on the 2026 “Last Concerts” Tour
To allow for a full month of recovery, Manilow has made the difficult decision to postpone his January 2026 arena dates.
| Original Schedule | New Status |
| January 2026 Shows | Rescheduled to February – April 2026 |
| Locations Impacted | Orlando, Tampa, Columbus, and others |
| Return to Stage | Feb 12, 2026 (Valentine’s Weekend in Las Vegas) |

Manilow concluded his announcement with an apology for the scheduling changes and a plea for his supporters to prioritize their health. “If you have even the slightest symptom… get tested!” he urged.
Earlier this year, the singer reflected on his longevity in the industry, noting that while many of his peers have retired or faced health struggles, he still felt strong. “The night I can’t hit the F natural on ‘Even Now,’ that’s the night I throw in the towel,” he told Billboard. “But I can still do it.”
